Tis the Season to Do a Holiday Episode

Community Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas

There's a time and a place to allow creativity to shine through and that place is television.  Community is the most creative show on television and their Season 2 Christmas episode, proves that.  First off, it's in clay"freakin"mation!! Claymation I tell you!  If the term is unfamiliar to you, it's also appropriately called stop-motion animation. 

 I also watched the behind the scenes featurette for that episode and the amount of detail that went into the episode was insane!  It also contains original holiday music that will put you in great spirits!The episode revolves around Abed, who for the holidays, believes that everything is claymated.  He's also looking for the true meaning of Christmas.  It's all going on in his head but the family and friendship values that the episode possesses are real! I'd love to explain it into full detail but I can't.  Anything that I say will never live up to the episode, so I insist you watch.

While you're at it, Season 1's Comparative Religion is also fantastic and Anthony Michael Hall guest stars!  Season 3's Regional Holiday Music (a way cooler Christmas version of Glee (it's a parody)) airs tonight; watch it because it is also the last episode before their tragic hiatus.  And next Thursday night NBC is airing the legendary Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas.

My Delightfully Surprising Christmas Wish List

I thought I should post this seeing as one of them is about to go off shelves. Here it goes:

The current issue of of TV Guide Magazine- $3.99 My favorite show Community won their fan favorite cover!  The news was revealed to the cast on the very week that they were benched from the mid season lineup. The victory is their big revelation that the Nielson ratings are no longer relevant and that many people don't watch TV shows on television anymore.  I went to the store and got what I could find.  The only one missing was the issue with Donald Glover and Danny Pudi (far right).  I'd still love to get it though, I mean it's Troy and Abed!  If you want any of them I suggest you move fast.  A brand new issue will go on newsstands this week, replacing these.  Good will hunting.

This Star Projector- $22.00 I think we squirrels have established our love for the movie Adam.  Well this projector highly reminds me of the character!  It's absolutely lovely and the nightlight I never even dreamed of existing!  You can purchase it here:http://www.infmetry.com/diy-romantic-star-projector

A Food Processor- Prices Vary I admit, it's the most surprising one on this list.  Why do I want a food processor?  Well I'm getting really tired of processed foods, and I'm also vegetarian.  I would love to be able to make my own sauces, dressing, etc.  There's also a lot of satisfaction that comes from making my own food.

A Very She and Him Christmas- $14.98 It's pretty much the only holiday CD that I have ever wanted.  Thanks to Mariela I have listened to it, but I'd like my own.

Things That Made My Head Spin

Sorry for procrastinating. Here it is.
1. The Walking Dead Finale

Last Sunday The Walking Dead proved once again why it is one of the best shows on television.  I won't necessarily say that my head spinned because I knew that we were going to get payoff for the whereabouts of Sophia, but I did not expect it to happen in the way that it did.  My mind is still blown.
2. Community wins the fan favorite award and gets an "adorable" ratings boost!

You know I had to put something about Community on here.  They deserve it!
3. The Hurricane Like Winds

Well the damage is done.  I didn't expect them to get that crazy though.  It blew out the electricity for thousands of California residents.

Gone With The Wind

The pun is 100% intended.  As you may or may not know California received some hurricane-like winds on Wednesday night.  If you lived in the towns with no electricity then you know how crazy people were acting.  I made the most of my day though.  I made a blanket fort, took a 5 hour nap (something that I would normally never do), and even got some reading done.  Sadly it ruined my previous promise to blog my little heart out, but more importantly I missed out on NBC's Comedy Night. I am fully caught up with the latter.  I am also happy to report that Greendale Community College got a lot of support.  Dan Harmon tweeted:

That deserves a jump of joy!

"Thank you guys for the ratings boost! It'd be nice to go out head held high - high by our adorable little standards, anyway."

The news(for the show and not the wind) was thrilling for me! I am now fully prepared to blog my little heart out.

P.S. My heart goes out to all the trees that lost their trunks in that terrible wind, all the homeless people that had to bare it, and anybody else with injuries and damaged properties.

Things That Made My Head Spin

Hello my friends. I think it's time for a new segment, so I bring to you the "Things That Made My Head Spin", which pretty much sums up the interesting news of the prior week. Here it goes!

1. The Unjust Benching of Community
These are trying times for fans.  I have to say that the war has begun.  I did my part and sent 2 letters to the chairman of NBC.  If you're a fan and you're reading this, I urge you to do the same.

2.The Battle of the Sexiest
It was the shot heard across the world this week when People Magazine chose the recipient of their annual Sexiest Man Alive and it wasn't Ryan Gosling.  Fans were outraged, and it even led to the funniest protest in human history.

3. The Stop Online Piracy Act
Does congress realize how much power hackers have?  I am obviously hoping that this bill does not get passed for many reasons.  My main reason: youtube!

Must All Great Shows Die Young?

Low Ratings. Not reaching the demographic. Blah blah blah.  I get why shows get cancelled, okay.  The sad thing is that it is always really great shows that get the axe.  In one sense, they all end well because the series doesn't drag on, but they would still be better than most of the stuff on television.  Think about it, My So Called Life was far better than Beverly Hills 90210 which lasted a decade.  People don't need to see thirty somethings pretending to be twenty somethings or thirty somethings pretending to be teenagers.  I'd have been able to take a few more years of Angela struggling to find her place, or keeping the guy that she really wanted.  Why? Because it was so well acted and so well written!

Must I mention Freaks and Geeks or Arrested Development.  The former practically gave birth to some of Hollywood's biggest stars (James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, do those names ring a bell?).  It had amazing guest stars and obviously they didn't get them because Judd Apatow or Paul Feig paid them great sums (I don't think they could have afforded it).  And let's discuss Arrested Development.  I'm sorry but Fox just did not promote it as well as their other shows.  And its competition? That's just another story about shows that overstay their welcome.

Let me also mention Pushing Daisies, which like the rest I have mentioned was critically acclaimed.  It started out great, but I think the network took a ratings slump way too seriously.  I don't think they really took into consideration just how good the show was, and it had a ratings slump for a reason (The Writer's Strike was going to do that).  In my opinion the show could have been saved and the strike ended more sooner if over paid actor's from other shows took a pay cut.

So obviously I am posting this for a reason.  My favorite show Community has been pulled from NBC's mid season schedule.  I'm on the verge of ripping someone's eyes out and crying from my own.  It isn't an official cancellation, but the rumor starts every season and this is the first time anything close to it being true has happened.  I just don't get it! The show has a dedicated fan base; I'm not saying large, but dedicated.  If the show ever did get extremely unbearable, I would still be watching and I think others would too.  But the show hasn't run its course yet, it isn't done telling its story.  Punish another show! I don't really know what to do, but if I get any more bad news I shall be sending paint balls to NBC.  I'm assuming the rest of its fans will too because us geeks will unite if you ignite a fight.

Community Epidemiology

One of the greatest Halloween episodes of all time!  I love to call it the Zombie ABBA Halloween Episode! If that doesn't convince you to watch it, I don't know what will.

Please, watch the video above!  The only thing missing is the ABBA but it shows pretty much everything in 5 minutes, and you will never believe that any show can pack in so much good stuff in one 22 minute episode!

You know what? I'm declaring it: Greatest Halloween themed episode ever! 

Community returns with its 3rd consecutive Halloween episode tonight, as does the rest of NBC.  It's going to be an exciting night!

Community Introduction to Statistics

Community delivers the goods on their first take on Halloween.  Annie is hosting a Halloween Party and wants everyone to go, but Jeff has a hot professor.  So logically his choice is to go for the girl.  Tisk, tisk.  Meanwhile at the party:

Britta doesn't like that "women use Halloween as an excuse to dress up as sluts."  Neither does Annie, who is dressed as an adorable skeleton from one perspective, but once the cape is shed it can be very umm...body revealing I guess.

Abed is dressed as Batman, and he basically won't break out of character. Oh and he's channeling Christian Bale's version.  Troy is dressed as Eddie Murphy (the Delirious red leather version).  Troy has always wanted to ask Batman if he's good looking apparently, to which Batman tells him that he is.

Then there's Pierce.  He doesn't want people to know his true age or that he's on old people meds.  Poor guy.  He goes as the Beastmaster, thinking it's very hip.  In the bathroom Starburns catches him taking his medication but assumes it's illegal drugs and insists that he and Pierce trade.  Cue the crazy, drug infused Pierce.  He loses his mind and pretty much destroys the library.  And he needs Jeff to save the day, of course.

Have I mentioned that Shirley is dressed as Harry Potter?  But everyone thinks she is Urkel. 

Funny stuff! Watch it!

NBC Comedy Night

Yesterday was a huge day for the TV on DVD community. The majority of NBC's comedies were released. As a fan, you know I made the trip. Did I not mention I'm a fan? Let me get this straight then, I am a huge fan!! NBC gets me, and I get it; that's what I call love.
As it is September and Fall TV is right around the corner, I'd like to take you on a journey. Be warned, I will only be telling you about those shows returning, so if you don't see 30 Rock it's okay it will be back for mid season.
Let's begin shall we?

1) The Office:

Say what you will, maybe it's lost its touch over the years but I'm still in for another ride even if it means Steve Carell won't be at the wheel. Season 7 had some great moments. We got an entire episode of the epic Threat Level Midnight, written by Michael "freakin'" Scott, Andy performing in Sweeney Todd, and Michael proposing to Holly, even taking big steps to follow her in troubled times. I got my wish come true of who should take over Michael's post when he left. Seniority ruled for an entire episode and Creed Bratton didn't know what was going, and I'm pretty sure he used office headquarters for one of his cults. But best of all, we fans got the sweetest send off, Michael threw away his "World's Best Boss" coffee cup that he bought at Spencer's for a trophy that he actually earned. I love the cast so much that I am fully prepared for the 8th season, good or bad.

2)Parks and Recreation:

I give Parks and Recreation a lot of respect! While most shows fall into the sophomore slump, it rose to the occasion just like the Office. Even more impressing is that its third season is its best by far! I don't know what it is, maybe that Rob Lowe was never this funny, maybe that Adam Scott is a breath of adorable, snotty fresh air as he falls for Leslie! Maybe it's Ron Swanson, maybe it's Snake Juice. I don't know, all I got to say is that Parks has a lot going on, and they make it work. The cast is great as they all have amazing chemistry together and season 4 is going to be quite exciting as it returns for its second full length season, I say second because seasons 1 and 3 were mid seasons.

3)Community:

I've said it before and I will say it again. This is my favorite show on television. Why? Several reasons, including that I am a pop culture, movie junkie and this show is a blessing for that crowd! The cast is superb, each and every one of them have the talent and comedic skill to be allowed to grace the screen with the legendary Chevy Chase, and I'm even talking about it's amazing side characters. My favorite three are the wonderful trio of Abed (Danny Pudi), Troy (Donald Glover), and Annie (Alison Brie). Abed is the coolest guy from another planet because he's seen more movies than I've ever dreamed of, and yeah he's crazy cool enough to imagine a claymation Christmas episode. Troy is the jock that you'd never thought you'd meet, he's weird enough to be BFF with Abed and is Levar Burton's biggest fan! He's also a gifted cryer, YouTube: "Donald Glover crying" and tell me that it isn't hysterical. And what's there to say about Annie besides the fact that she actually lives the life of a poor college Jewish student, she's also a brown noser and a master attacker of chloroform. The best part about this show besides its wonderful cast? It's not afraid to be over the top! It knows how to do a good theme episode, including a spectacular Zombie meets Abba Halloween, claymation Christmas, Apollo 13 , Dungeons and Dragons, Pulp Fiction meets My Dinner with Andre, action, western, and Star Wars. Until I see anything greater I will proudly state that Modern Warfare is the greatest 22 minutes of anything that I've ever seen on television, it's just that great. It even had a two part sequel, and while I might still love the first one more, I think it was just as good. And don't even get me started on Dan Harmon, the Emmy's won't give him the respect he deserves but it's fine because he's got one of the most devoted fan bases on television. This is a very long paragraph about my devotion to this show, so maybe that's convinced you enough.

I don't know where you'll be on Thursday nights this fall but mine are, at the moment, NBC sacred.

Why Didn't I Get the Hello Kitty Memo?!

I first want to say that I am not here to rant on Hello Kitty or anyone that loves it.

With that said, let me move on. I don't get it! I honestly don't. I can pass by the Hello Kitty section of Best Buy all the time or the Sanrio store without dying over everything. There are so many other girls that can't do that, so instead of ranting on them, I ask the important question. Is something wrong with me?

When I was about 8 years old McDonalds did this cool Hello Kitty plush collectibles thing; I'm not sure if they came with the happy meal or if you had to pay extra for them, but my mom started getting them for me (I only have one left for some reason). I thought they were super cool, but now that I look back at it, it wasn't because of the famed white cat. I just thought it was super cool to collect something.

I don't want to hear the "you're just trying hard not to like it" phrase either because that is just the complete opposite of me. Ask my brother, and if he actually listens to me, he'll tell you that I always say "I wish I loved Hello Kitty." I say that almost every time I pass the Hello Kitty section. Because I do want to love it! I want to love the mini fridge, the microwave, key chains, key boards, headphones, etc. I honestly do because I love to geek out (I can quote Rowling in my sleep), and that's the spectrum that I put the fans of the cat in. [I actually have mad respect for the toaster, and I'd like mine to say "Pop Pop!" (Community) or have the Hogwarts Crest].

If you're reading this and think I'm, how the kids say these days, "just hatin'", well then you've completely missed my point.

I want to join in with y'all and say ther her (is she a she, I honestly don't know) stuff is so cute. I used to pretend that I was super into it because everyone else was at a certain time in my life. I actually wish now that something had triggered then when I was pretending, but sadly it didn't. Why haven't the Hello Kitty gods truly opened me with open arms? If you know why, please tell me!
