The Countdown Has Begun!

Sorry if November wasn't such a great blogging month.  I intend to try and make it up to you if that's even possible.  What better way to end the year than to blog like crazy?! I shall try and provide amazing holiday goodness, and my 2011 favorites all December long!  Till then...

Things That Made My Head Spin

1. Jason Segel and the Muppets. Jason Segel and the Muppets. Yes, I saw the muppets on Friday, and no I am still not over it. Jason Segels adorable level increased tremendously, and naming him cutie patootie of the week was not enough for me. He has been on my mind all week, and probably next week as well.

2. The students of UC Davis being pepper sprayed. I am outraged.

3. Movie of the week: E.T. I watched it on Thanksgiving. Forgot how amazing it is, and how adorable Drew Barrymore is. Such a classic. Only Steven Spielberg makes me want to re-live my childhood and go on an epic bicycle adventure. Cue the E.T. theme song!

Have a happy week everybody! :)

Cutie Patootie of the Week

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
We would like to bestow the honor upon the one and only Jason Segel!  We've had a major crush on Jason Segel for years.  The reason is mostly due to his charm; his charm alone has kept us amazed since his days on Freaks and Geeks where he played the stoner with a heart of gold.  His comedic and acting chops are also brilliant in How I Met Your Mother, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I Love You Man.  We're huge fans if you can't tell!

And you know us squirrels, we just love guys that happen to be multi-talented.  Besides being an actor Jason is a screenplay writer, director, producer, and has even written and performed his own music for the screen. We present you with this:
That video of the song "Dracula's Lament"was written by Segel himself.  It brings us to our next point! He has an usual love for puppets, something that we can't help but find adorbs!  He credits the fact that he's still single to his house of puppets.  Well, Jason all we have to say to that is that you are barking up the wrong conceded trees.  If a gal can't take you being just who you are, you shouldn't have to deal with her.  We're available! Just saying.

On another note we would like to thank Jason Segel for bringing the Muppets back to theaters; it's been too long.  And that's exactly where you can catch Jason this weekend.  The Muppets, a film he starts and co-writes, is in theaters now!  We can't wait to get on down there!

Things That Made My Head Spin

Hello my friends. I think it's time for a new segment, so I bring to you the "Things That Made My Head Spin", which pretty much sums up the interesting news of the prior week. Here it goes!

1. The Unjust Benching of Community
These are trying times for fans.  I have to say that the war has begun.  I did my part and sent 2 letters to the chairman of NBC.  If you're a fan and you're reading this, I urge you to do the same.

2.The Battle of the Sexiest
It was the shot heard across the world this week when People Magazine chose the recipient of their annual Sexiest Man Alive and it wasn't Ryan Gosling.  Fans were outraged, and it even led to the funniest protest in human history.
3. The Stop Online Piracy Act
Does congress realize how much power hackers have?  I am obviously hoping that this bill does not get passed for many reasons.  My main reason: youtube!

Cuie Patootie of the Week

This weeks cutie paootie of the week is Eddie Redmayne.

Now I do not know how popular he is in the UK, but I bet he is more popular than in the U.S, even though he has received a bit more recognition these last years. This makes me happy, although I kinda like him being my little secret.

This British freckled face cutie is a Tony award winner! There is nothing I like more than a guy who has appeared on Broadway. Can he sing and dance?? I do not know, but I am guessing he probably can!

Other than starting his career on stage, and winning a Tony, he has had small parts in in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "The Other Boleyn Girl". He has also appeared in the mini series "The Pillars of the Earth".

Lets talk about his personal life. He dated one of our favorites, Carey Mulligan, for a couple a months. But alas, it sadly did not last. I was so rooting for them. They just looked so darn cute together!

(By the way, who looks THIS good walking down the street. Seriously, model material right here!)

Eddie Redmayne now stars in the movie "My Week with Marilyn" along Michelle Williams and Emma Watson which is released Thanksgiving. He looks awfully adorable in 1960s clothing! He is also starring in an upcoming Steven Spielberg (love) film, which i hope finally launches him to stardom! Although again, I kinda don't want EVERY 12 year old girl to know about him.

Ryan Gosling is the Sexiest Man Alive

What, did you think I was going to take the word from People Magazine.  In all of the years of their "Sexiest Man Alive" I have never had a serious complaint.  But this year, they neglected the obvious.  For some it might be the Year of the Rabbit, but for others it is obviously the Year of Ryan Gosling!  No offense to Bradley Cooper, sure he's good looking, but he is not the Sexiest Man Alive; not this year at least.
A picture says a thousand words, that's all I got to say. Ryan is most definitely the Cutie Patootie of the Year in my opinion.

Must All Great Shows Die Young?

Low Ratings. Not reaching the demographic. Blah blah blah.  I get why shows get cancelled, okay.  The sad thing is that it is always really great shows that get the axe.  In one sense, they all end well because the series doesn't drag on, but they would still be better than most of the stuff on television.  Think about it, My So Called Life was far better than Beverly Hills 90210 which lasted a decade.  People don't need to see thirty somethings pretending to be twenty somethings or thirty somethings pretending to be teenagers.  I'd have been able to take a few more years of Angela struggling to find her place, or keeping the guy that she really wanted.  Why? Because it was so well acted and so well written!

Must I mention Freaks and Geeks or Arrested Development.  The former practically gave birth to some of Hollywood's biggest stars (James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, do those names ring a bell?).  It had amazing guest stars and obviously they didn't get them because Judd Apatow or Paul Feig paid them great sums (I don't think they could have afforded it).  And let's discuss Arrested Development.  I'm sorry but Fox just did not promote it as well as their other shows.  And its competition? That's just another story about shows that overstay their welcome.

Let me also mention Pushing Daisies, which like the rest I have mentioned was critically acclaimed.  It started out great, but I think the network took a ratings slump way too seriously.  I don't think they really took into consideration just how good the show was, and it had a ratings slump for a reason (The Writer's Strike was going to do that).  In my opinion the show could have been saved and the strike ended more sooner if over paid actor's from other shows took a pay cut.

So obviously I am posting this for a reason.  My favorite show Community has been pulled from NBC's mid season schedule.  I'm on the verge of ripping someone's eyes out and crying from my own.  It isn't an official cancellation, but the rumor starts every season and this is the first time anything close to it being true has happened.  I just don't get it! The show has a dedicated fan base; I'm not saying large, but dedicated.  If the show ever did get extremely unbearable, I would still be watching and I think others would too.  But the show hasn't run its course yet, it isn't done telling its story.  Punish another show! I don't really know what to do, but if I get any more bad news I shall be sending paint balls to NBC.  I'm assuming the rest of its fans will too because us geeks will unite if you ignite a fight.

Being Blue...or Green

It all started with me receiving an email that I had accidentaly signed up with the wrong advisor. Ok, I can deal with that, a bit embarrassing but I just laughed it off and moved on.

Then for some reason, I have been horrible with following instructions in class. My professor might have repeated 20 times "Question sheet behind the answer sheet", and what did I do, the total opposite. I was probably off in my little world.

Photo class, they said do not press the picture down. And what do I do? Oh you betcha! Press the picture down.
I do not know what is wrong with me but I just seem out of it. I don't know if its the time change, or the positioning of the stars, but I hope it gets better sometime before my birthday.

And to top it off, tuition increases may be a possibility next year. Which is ridiculous to me. I don't know how I am going to do it.

Sometimes just staying in a place for too long makes me overthink stuff and stress out. I guess I just need to keep having hope and know that everything will work out at the end, as it always does. Oh but sometimes it is so hard.
I just wish I could drive away from everything. Just go on a random freeway and see where that takes me.

It's November and I Want to Make You Drool

Banoffee Pie (My latest photo obsession)
Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream
Chocolate Cream Pie (If you're not into fruit)
The Thanksgiving Favorite: Pumpkin Pie
Yes, I did just post pictures of pie! Because pie is delicious! And the best part of the holidays.  I can't wait to attempt making Banoffee Pie and eating it, while watching Love Actually.  What will you do with your pie? What kind of pie do you like? Will you just admit that you love to stare at pictures of pie?

So Called Eye Candy and the Purposes they Serve (NONE)

Is that lipstick?! This is an important question!
Yes, I'm gonna share with you the news that I still watch teen soaps (only Gossip Girl).  I love them for how catty they can be.  I love the absurd plots and stylish wardrobes.  I always love the eye candy.  One of the statements is a lie.

I always crush on the guy I'm not supposed to crush on!  I know Gossip Girl wants me to crush on Nate Archibald, what with his perfectly highlighted hair and all!  But I'm not buying it.  And I haven't been buying it since the show began.  I once shared the idea for The Nate Archibald Must Die fan page (is there now one in existence?) and a complete stranger volunteered to make posters!  It made me happy that I was not the only one that felt so.

"Why would we want Nate dead? He's cute! He's hot!"  Such are the statements I always hear.  And my rebuttal? He's not that cute!  I'm not calling Chace Crawford ugly (I understand it, but I'm not on board the crushing train).  What I'm saying is this: you cannot convince me to care for a character or to want to keep watching their storylines if the character just isn't interesting.  As far as I'm concerned, Nate Archibald only remains relevant to the show so long as he is relevant to the other characters on the show.  As of lately, his main storylines are with people that are still new to the show, and probably won't last (judging from experience).  I'm convinced the writers are relying on the fact that people are attracted to him, to keep his character going.

As a fan, I beg the writer's to write off this character.  It's been done in the past, e.g Aaron, Vanessa, Jenny.

Gossip Girl isn't the only show guilty of this, but it's the one that has been bugging me.  Some people, and I know it might not look like it because I'm watching a teen soap, still want characters that they are going to care for in some way, and if your only selling point on a character is that they're good looking, that just doesn't cut it.

Cutie Patootie of the Week

And this weeks cutie patootie of the week is...Mathew Gray Gubler. I know lots of questions have emerged after reading this name, so let me clear some things up for you.

How is he relevant?

Well one of our little squirrels (Mariela) was looking through Pinterest.com. (Which by the way is a great photography, creative, website! I highly recommend it!) and came across a picture of the new short haired Matthew Gray Gubler, and can you say what a cutie?!

Are you wondering: Who is he? He looks familiar, where have I seen him?

Well you have most likely seen him in the movie (500) Days of Summer, he plays one of Tom's best friends. He is also better known from wonderful the scene where he says:

He did not really catch us little squirrels attention then, but with his short hair, AHHH!

As I researched, I also discovered he was a model for Tommy Hillfiger, and I can totally see it.

But this is the best part, not only is he good looking, but as I was wandering around Pinterest i found this wonderful thing he said about the woman of his dreams. Girls, get prepared to hear one of the cutest things you have EVER read! Enjoy! Oh and you can also see him in old Criminal Minds episodes.

(and he's not afraid to be silly!)
"Must love decorating for holidays, mischief, kissing in cars, and wind chimes. no specific height, weight, hair color, or political affiliation required but would prefer a warm spirited non racist. cynics, critics, pessimists, and "stick in the muds" need not apply. voluptuous figures a plus. any similarity in look, mind set, or fashion sense to mary poppins, claire huxtable, snow white, or elvira wholeheartedly welcomed. i am dubious of actresses, fellons and lesbians but dont want to rule them out entirely. must be tolerant of whistling, tickle torture, james taylor, and sleeping late. i have a slight limp, eerily soft hands, and a preternatural love of autumn. i once misinterpreted being called a coal-eyed dandy as a compliment when it was intended as an insult. i wiggle my feet in my sleep, am scared of the dark, and think the Muppets Christmas Carol is one of the greatest films of all time. all i want is butterfly kisses in the morning, peanut butter sandwiches shaped like a heart, and to make you smile until it hurts."
