The Totally Cliche Story of How 2011 Was the Best Year of My Life

It really was! I stood feet away from royalty (Prince William actually waved at us).  I was inches away from the most beautiful woman I have ever seen up close (Jennifer Garner).  Seriously, pictures do not do her justice and Mariela actually got to shake one of her fingers!  Ed Westwick acknowledged little ol' me and I was standing in a huge crowd!  I got my first celebrity autographs from Juno Temple, Jonah Hill (adorbs), and Anna Kournikova!
I finally went to a midnight premiere in full out fanboy status!  I got a Ryan Gosling cardboard cutout for my birthday!  I seen great movies! I had my first full year of college! I went to my first concert and it was amazing thanks to Taylor Swift! I went to my first rap show for Childish Gambino and he literally brought down the house!  Thanks to the rap show I got to see what really makes me star struck and it is standing about 4 ft away from Danny Pudi and Alison Brie!  I even rejoined the social networking world, one was okay and one was absolutely addicting! Twitter you know you're the addicting one (and not just because Joel Courtney is following me)!  There's probably more but that's all I can think of for now! Have a happy 2012! Tootles!
P.S. There will be more exclamation marks in 2012

Favorite Films of the Year

I would first like to say that I do not get paid to watch movies and that is probably the reason that one of your favorites didn't make the cut.  With that said here are my 11 favorite films of the year:

11. The Tree of Life
I'm really glad that viewers felt their minds blown by Inception last year, but that one didn't quite do it for me.  The Tree of Life, however completely blew my mind. It seriously rearranged parts in my brain and only put a few of the pieces back together.  This is not a film that I would recommend though.  It has that sad distinction of being a film that is not for everybody.  If you're a Brad Pitt fan then this isn't for you; I tried telling this to my mother who insisted on watching it with me and she didn't listen (she also didn't like the movie).  If you're a Terrence Malick fan then this film is for you! Those are my warnings for this beautifully shot film!
10. Crazy, Stupid, Love
I'm a Ryan Gosling fan by nature and I have to credit this film for making everyone else crazy for Gosling. Something in me thought that I really wasn't going to like it, but I'm so glad I did.  The film is hysterical and actually surprising for a romantic comedy.
9. Bridesmaids
This is not your average chick flick by any means necessary!  I repeat: THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHICK FLICK! The caps were necessary.  But I should add that this will make you laugh a lot and it will probably gross you out just as much. Thank you Paul Feig!
8. Horrible Bosses
I know that I'm supposed to love Bridesmaid more, but something is amazing about a film that doesn't make me hate Jennifer Aniston!  And I also didn't cringe seeing Jaime Fox on screen (in recent years he hasn't been that funny to me).  Oh and Charlie Day is in this!  Charlie Day!  And it's extremely funny! Oh and Kevin Spacey!
7. Martha Marcy May Marlene
Elizabeth Olsen welcome to Hollywood!  That has to my top reaction after viewing this because the girl can act her patootie off!  Her performance was so unbelievably good that it almost makes me sick.  It's not one of those I'm going to cry a lot performances (or movies), it's a very understated one.  She completely immersed herself into the role that I didn't notice the bubbly personality that I had seen in interviews.  I recommend this film if you are open to films about cults.
6. Like Crazy
I'm still obsessed with the trailer for this movie! Obsessed I tell you!  The film itself was great too.  What really holds this film together is the undeniable chemistry between Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin.  Together they are gold!
5. Rise of the Planet of the Apes
One of my favorite films of the summer is still one of my favorites of the year.  If you've seen it, please follow along as I say, ANDY SERKIS FOR THE OSCAR.  He deserves a nomination at best because his performance was riveting.  Stop motion actors are actors too and I'm hoping that the AMPAS will acknowledge that this year.
4. Drive
I cannot say that it was the year of Gosling without telling you about Drive.  Ryan Gosling delivers one of the best performances of his career and he does it with very few words.  Whatever you think about Drive before watching it will not be what you think about Drive after watching it (this is coming from someone that knew they would like it, but unexpectedly loved it). And director Refn is truly a Hollywood force to be reckoned with.
3. Super 8
I feel like I'm a very nostalgic person and that's probably why I love this film so much! It's a really fantastic film and I recommend it to everybody.
2. The Muppets
If you don't walk out of this movie smiling then something is seriously wrong with you! It's so fantastic, joyous, and I want to give Jason Segel a million hugs for helping revive the Muppets!
1. The Deathly Hallows Part 2
Once again, this is a personal list.  I'm a diehard HP fan and this film was my favorite of the entire series.  Alan Rickman also deserves recognition from the AMPAS for his truly chilling performance of Severus Snape!  He literally takes my breath away!

My New Year's Resolutions

I'll be honest, I don't make New Year's Resolutions.  If you want something then you should make it happen, but this year, my lazy college self is going to pretend that a new year is going to bring changes.  With that said here are some things I'd like to accomplish next year.

1. Cleaning my room
My room is disgusting; nothing like that photo, but it might as well be.  I'm getting older and this should really be a force of habit but who knows.  I'd like to reorganize the wall space too, but I'm saving that space until I turn 20 because the walls currently feel very teen appropriate.

2. Learn how to drive
I'm 19 so my reasons for this one are pretty darn obvious.

3.Run a half marathon
I am not a runner and I won't pretend that I am.  All I can say is that I love running when I'm in the zone, but that zone is not an easy place to get to.  I want to be in that zone every day, so wouldn't it be great to have motivation.  I would love to run the Disneyland Princess Half Marathon; I believe they have one at the end of the year so I'm going to "train" for that event.  Wouldn't it be cute to run in those tutus?!

That's all I have for now.

Hunger Games

Nichole and I are super excited for the release of The Hunger Games movie. And this new song from the Hunger Games soundtrack practically made us fall even more in love with the series.

I can just imagine Katniss taking care of Peeta. Oh Peeta. This song is sooo good and extremely calming. I think I listen to it about five times a day.

If you haven't read The Hunger Games yet, go read it now! So epic. The best way to describe it is as the book "Brave New World" for teens, with heartbreaking romance, and great characters! (Cough cough) Peeta. Enjoy! Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas

I honestly hope that it is Merry.  Especially if you read our blog, but who am I kidding? I'll tell you to have a good one anyways.  Merry Christmas.

Holiday Cinema

A Christmas Story is by far my favorite holiday film!  It's just such a great story about a little boy and the ultimate present for him.  The best part of the film is that the jokes never really age.  It was funny to me as a kid, I find it funny now, and I know that in another 20 years I am still going to find it funny.  If you're lucky enough to watch it today, you're very lucky.  If you're not, try and watch it next year.

Holiday Cinema

I feel like I've hinted at it enough.  I love Love Actually.  I don't want to hear how I'm "such a girl."  I find something truly endearing about this one.  And I have heard that guys like it just in case you're wondering. I find the film nearly flawless (one scene is a bit too naughty).  If I could use one word to describe the film, I'd say "delightful."  It's my go to word for films like this; I dare you to tell me it's not, and then you can make any complaint you so ever choose.  Are we agreed?  By the way, this is probably one of the very, very few examples of where an all-star cast actually works!  And as a little holiday treat, I leave you with my absolute, favorite scene from this oh so delightful film.
Andrew Lincoln, to me you are perfect.

Tis the Season to Do a Holiday Episode

The Office Christmas Party
The Office has never been one to shy away from doing a Christmas episode, and to my delight I have never hated one.  But Christmas Party is definitely one of my favorites, as well as being the show's first.
The episode is focused around Secret Santa(every episode contains Secret Santa).  Michael generously, and unnecessarily purchased a brand new iPOD for his man crush, Ryan.  Jim buys Pam the teapot she's been wanting, but inside of it there are numerous inside jokes between the two; it is basically the perfect gift.  Phyllis gets Michael a handmade oven mitten, which Michael hates!  Hilarity ensues and Michael invents Yankee Swap.
It's a pretty sad concept if you didn't understand the above video.  If you don't like your gift, you can steal someone else's.  It's bad for Jim.
The Office A Benihana Christmas
It's the episode where a recently dumped Michael goes to Asian Hooters to cheer up and where Pam and Karen rival Angela's Christmas party with their own.  It's a hilarious episode but this is the reason I watch it:
The Office Moroccan Christmas
It's the one where Phyllis finally gets to host the Christmas Party.  But someone didn't tell her that it was a bad idea to serve alcohol.  Meredith gets drunk and this happens:
The Office Secret Santa
The good news keeps on coming for Phyllis as it's the first year she get's to be Santa(something she's been wanting for too long).  It's also a more economically aware episode as the office might get shut down.
The Office Classy Christmas
Michael is trying to win back Holly again, but this is the only scene you need!
The Office Christmas Wishes
Andy brings his new girlfriend to the Christmas Party.  It's unfortunate for his ex, Erin.  Erin can't take it and she gets drunk!
I sadly cannot seem to upload that.
If you're looking for some Christmas cheer I strongly recommend that you visit or revisit these episodes.

Happy...Merry...

First day of Hanukkah if you're Jewish.  And first day Chrismukkah if you're half Jewish, half Christian.  I know that the festivities don't actually begin till Sunset, but I'd rather be early than come up with an excuse.  I'm not actually Jewish, so I thought I'd post videos of my favorite Chrismukkah celebrator:Seth Cohen(played by cutie Adam Brody)!
Hanukkah and Chrismukkah both end on December 28th this year. Have fun!

What I am currently into....

It's my second post and once again it's on music. YAY! Currently, I've been listening to a lot of Garage/Surf Rock. I have no idea why, but its upbeat tempo really makes me want to get up and DANCE! An example of this are bands like the WAVVES and Shannon and the Clams. I'll leave some videos for your listening pleasure. Enjoy. :)

Shannon and the Clams- Sleep Talk

My Top Holiday Treats

It's about that time where someone you know gains weight by indulging in delicious treats.  So I thought I would share some of my favorites!
 1. Hot Chocolate
How dare you not like it?! It tastes like love and home! A bit over dramatic?
2. Candy Canes
There was a time where I could not stand the peppermint flavored ones for too long, but that time is gone. I love candy canes with a serious passion.  Peppermint flavors have been truly blessing, which brings me to...
3. Starbucks Peppermint Mocha
My father gave me some cash on my last day of finals to grab lunch, but since I hadn't had breakfast I used it for that.  I impulsively bought this from Starbucks, and I am in love! 2 great things (coffee and peppermint) combined! There is a God!
4.Cookies
I won't discriminate.  Chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, the butter ones that come in a blue tin, sugar, gingerbread, etc. I love cookies, dip them in milk or hot chocolate and it's even better!
5.Cupcakes
I'll take cupcakes on a good old normal day, but the love does increase during the holidays. You can decorate them really pretty, but in the end you can care less as long as it tastes spectacular.

Mariela's Very Wishful Christmas List

This is a very wishful Christmas list. This is basically all the things that I have died over this past year, and would be lovely to have. I'll start with the realistic ones, and go on to the overpriced, unrealistic ones. Here it goes.

1. Headbands. I love me some headbands. I wear them five days out of the seven days of the week. I just love how they can make any hairstyle fancy shmancy.

2. Oxfords. I have been dying for oxfords. It is so hard for me to find some cute affordable ones in a size 5! I think this is such a cute alternative for tennis shoes. I have a feeling my seach will have to continue this upcoming year. That being said, I love being a size 5 because Rachel Bilson is too.

3. "On The Road" by Keruac. Nichole and I have been dying to read this!!!! I have read a couple of quotes from this book and it is like whoah, must read. I just have not had the time to read it and/or buy it, or borrow it. Maybe some time before the movie comes out...

Now let's get to the fairytale wishes....
4. Ever since I saw Lea Michele wearing this necklace on Glee, I was like, that is adorbs, I want. Really, I have witnesses. I love that it is so small and delicate. I have been searching for the designer FOREVER and I finally found it a couple days ago on the InStyle Magazine website. I would totally wear a necklace with Finn's name on it, but I would not pay for it, so instead I would much rather get it with a simple "M". When I get a job, this shall be my first splurge.

5. Ugh THIS dress. Amazing. Amazing. I am OBSESSED with anything tulle. I would just love to own it and wear it around my house while watching the Oscars. It looks out of a fairytale! (Also seen on the T.Swift perfume commercial) The designer is Christian Siriano from Project Runway.

Happy Holidays!

Secret Santa

During the holidays Secret Santa is one of my favorite things!  It ensures that everybody gets a gift and it's just fun to be surprised!  This year the squirrels are going to do it differently. Semi homemade Secret Santa! By semi, I mean that I am not opposed to someone buying an item and then reinventing it.  The idea came from a young girl with no cash in her pocket.  Yeah, me!  It sucks to not have it, but I honestly do love the idea of making presents.  A lot of care does go into it.  And I can be a crafty b****.  I managed to make a corset out of a ruined bag, and all by hand!  Some people call that couture, I call it "I still don't know how to use the sewing machine."  We haven't picked out the names yet, but I think I finally have an idea to get for everyone, no matter who I choose.  I encourage you to embrace the Secret Santa within yourself, and that you do the homemade version.  You never know, you could end up in the midst of the "gift of the magi."

Blame it On the Fi-fi-finals

That's my version of a song that I'm sure was popular a few years ago, unless I'm going cray cray.  Anyways you probably think that I don't know the meaning of blogging my little heart out, but I beg you to read the title again!  Finals are insane! I want to pass my classes and sadly that has meant putting the blog second, but tomorrow everything changes for a few weeks at least.  My last final is tomorrow.  I hope to blog my heart out then!

Things That Made My Head Spin

It's that time of the week. I know you are all excited, so let's start.
  1. Once Upon A Time & Misfits. I am obsessed with both these shows. These week they were amazing. I'll just say there are zombie cheerleaders, a zombie cat, a zombie old lady, a wolf, and a heart. Plus both shows have good eye candy. ;]

  2. Accidental death at CSULB. On Wednesday, Annette Lujan died climbing out of a stuck elevator. This death taught me that if I'm stuck on an elevator I should not climb out until it is fix. So, rest in peace Annette Lujan.
  3. STUDYING!!! So much studying before finals week. If you are a college student, you know how stressful this week can be. I have heard of people living in the library. If that is you, don't forget to shower. I cannot wait for this week to be over. Good luck to everyone. Study hard.

Holiday Cinema

Well my friends, there are officially 2 weeks left till Christmas.  You know way that means? Holiday movie marathons!  I'll start you off with one of my favorites.
Home Alone! It's the story of a boy that wishes his annoying family disappears, and it actually happens! Ok, it didn't happen.  They accidentally left him home alone while they went on vacation.  The situation alone is one of my biggest fears.  Anyways there's robbers and they want to rob his house and Kevin (oh by the way the boys name is Kevin and he suffers from Keven McCallister Syndrome) finds out and tries to make it look like his family is still there.  I can't explain it any further.  It's the story of the coolest prepubescent boy that ever existed and you should just watch it!

Cutie Patootie of the Week

Oh Colin Firth, you British lad you!  You make us American ladies swoon!  I mean you are Mr. Darcy!  And you can act for days!

Let's be honest, I wouldn't care how good looking you were if you couldn't act, and you my friend can act.  Colin Firth has been in several movies, but squirrel favorites include Shakespeare in Love, The Importance of Being Earnest, Love Actually, Bridget Jones's Diary and A Single Man.

An interesting fact, Firth decided at 14 that he wanted to become an actor, and didn't go to college because of it.  We squirrels love our educated men, so you know he must be dashing for us to let that slide.  But once again, he's Colin Firth.

Love Actually is on my holiday movie list as usual, but you can also catch him this weekend in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Not Ready to Let Go Just Yet...

(I picked this picture because I thought it looked Christmas-shy)

The summer of 2010 was by far the worst three months of my life, for a lot of personal issues that I don't like to talk about and I will not discuss in this post, but overall I am greatful for it because I came out a better , more mature person than I was. Now let's talk about Glee, I would be the first to say that Glee is not the show it used to be season one, the story lines have been lacking and I am just not digging these new characters, although I do have a love for Darren Criss, and that Irish guy sure makes me want to get lost in his dreamy blue eyes, but overall I would give it C+, B- this season.

I am done watching after this season because I see no point in watching a show without the characters I fell in love with. The ones that used to make me laugh when all I wanted to do was stay in bed and sleep all day. The ones that made me relate to their broken hearts, and frustrations in life.

In the summer of 2010 I would sit watch Glee and I knew everything will be ok, that it wasn't the end of the world. That there is a Finn Hudson out there, and I will be able to achieve my dreams even if it took a while.
So I will continue watching this season, tear up every other episode, and at night I will have dreams with Cory Monteith (they are reacurring for some reason, I take it as a sign that in an alternate universe we are probably married with kids), admire Rachel's cute outfits, and love Darren's dance moves. I owe them that much.

P.S. Still in the search for that necklace with Finn's name on it haha

My Favorite New Show of the Year

New Girl!  I'm going to go ahead and say that my love for Zooey Deschanel has nothing to do with the win.  I actually didn't love the pilot episode.  It made me hope that the show would get better.  I saw that it had potential so I stuck around.  I'm so glad that I did because the show quickly began to deliver!  My favorite character isn't even Jess (Zooey), it's Schmidt.  He is the true quirk of the show, and it's absolutely perfect.  His insecurities of the "fat Schmidt" he once was shine in his vanity, but Max Greenfield commits to the role, and I as a fan react with laughter.  If you haven't given into New Girl yet I suggest that you give it a try because I believe that the best shows are the ones with the ability to get better and better.  The cast as a whole is also great.  They all bring out different qualities in each other and it's pure joy!

Watch and of course tootles!

Tis the Season to Do a Holiday Episode

Community Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas
There's a time and a place to allow creativity to shine through and that place is television.  Community is the most creative show on television and their Season 2 Christmas episode, proves that.  First off, it's in clay"freakin"mation!! Claymation I tell you!  If the term is unfamiliar to you, it's also appropriately called stop-motion animation.
I also watched the behind the scenes featurette for that episode and the amount of detail that went into the episode was insane!  It also contains original holiday music that will put you in great spirits! The episode revolves around Abed, who for the holidays, believes that everything is claymated.  He's also looking for the true meaning of Christmas.  It's all going on in his head but the family and friendship values that the episode possesses are real! I'd love to explain it into full detail but I can't.  Anything that I say will never live up to the episode, so I insist you watch.

While you're at it, Season 1's Comparative Religion is also fantastic and Anthony Michael Hall guest stars!  Season 3's Regional Holiday Music (a way cooler Christmas version of Glee (it's a parody)) airs tonight; watch it because it is also the last episode before their tragic hiatus.  And next Thursday night NBC is airing the legendary Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas

Happy Holidays! Tootles!

An Ode To Holiday Sweaters

Oh holiday sweaters, how I love you so.
The ironic smile you bring to my face is not taken lightly.
Whether it is Santa chanting "ho ho ho"
or Rudolph tilting his head ever so slightly.
I admire you even more when you have one element,
maybe a menorah or a present and a bow.
It's getting so cold I might wear you nightly,
let's just hope I'm keeping up a nice scent.
Courtesy of aliexpress.com
Okay, I'm obviously no John Keats, but I do love holiday sweaters!  They're just so cheery, albeit ridiculous at times.   But I must admit, I've never owned one, so if you hate them I completely understand.

Brighten up your Wednesday!

Some of us little squirrels LOVE Jason Segel!!! But what else is knew? Well his new rom-com "The Five-Year Engagement!!! With another cutie Chris Pratt. Officially excited. Enjoy!

Who wouldn't want to be engaged to Jason Segel?!

My Delightfully Surprising Christmas Wish List

I thought I should post this seeing as one of them is about to go off shelves. Here it goes:

The current issue of of TV Guide Magazine- $3.99 My favorite show Community won their fan favorite cover!  The news was revealed to the cast on the very week that they were benched from the mid season lineup. The victory is their big revelation that the Nielson ratings are no longer relevant and that many people don't watch TV shows on television anymore.  I went to the store and got what I could find.  The only one missing was the issue with Donald Glover and Danny Pudi (far right).  I'd still love to get it though, I mean it's Troy and Abed!  If you want any of them I suggest you move fast.  A brand new issue will go on newsstands this week, replacing these.  Good will hunting.

This Star Projector- $22.00 I think we squirrels have established our love for the movie Adam.  Well this projector highly reminds me of the character!  It's absolutely lovely and the nightlight I never even dreamed of existing!  You can purchase it here:http://www.infmetry.com/diy-romantic-star-projector
A Food Processor- Prices Vary I admit, it's the most surprising one on this list.  Why do I want a food processor?  Well I'm getting really tired of processed foods, and I'm also vegetarian.  I would love to be able to make my own sauces, dressing, etc.  There's also a lot of satisfaction that comes from making my own food.
A Very She and Him Christmas- $14.98 It's pretty much the only holiday CD that I have ever wanted.  Thanks to Mariela I have listened to it, but I'd like my own.
That's all I can think of for now.  About the italics, that's how you write to Santa!

Things That Made My Head Spin

Sorry for procrastinating. Here it is.
1. The Walking Dead Finale

Last Sunday The Walking Dead proved once again why it is one of the best shows on television.  I won't necessarily say that my head spinned because I knew that we were going to get payoff for the whereabouts of Sophia, but I did not expect it to happen in the way that it did.  My mind is still blown.
2. Community wins the fan favorite award and gets an "adorable" ratings boost!

You know I had to put something about Community on here.  They deserve it!
3. The Hurricane Like Winds

Well the damage is done.  I didn't expect them to get that crazy though.  It blew out the electricity for thousands of California residents.

Cutie Patootie of the Week

This is our 100th post! And we shall use it to announce our cutie patootie of the week.... JAMES MCAVOY.

This Scottish cutie is such a great actor and has such a long list of movie appearances: The Chronicles of Narnia, Becoming Jane, The Last King of Scotland, Penelope, the much spoken of Atonement, The Last Station, and The Conspirator, to name a few.

He steals our hearts with his Scottish accent, and his dashing eyes. He also really pulls off the 1700's look, such as in Becoming Jane. If you haven't seen Becoming Jane, please do! You would love to be Jane Austen running away with Mr. James McAvoy, and I would leave it at that.

Other than being a charming actor, he does great works for charity. He jumped from the tallest hospital building to raise money for a Ugandan children's charity.

Sad thing is, that he is married and has a son... but hey, guys with babies are really attractive.
You can currently hear McAvoy's voice on Arthur Christmas!

Now the question remains, if you lived in the late 1700's would you run away with this cutie and ruin your reputation?

Heroine of the Year

As my first 2011 Favorite I proclaim Leslie Knope the Heroine of the Year.

First off, if you are not watching Parks and Recreation, what the heck are you waiting for?!

Second off, if you are watching Parks and Recreation you will know that this was my first 2011 pick it was the easiest decision I ever had to make.

Now, let's talk about Leslie Knope played by the adorable and extraordinary Amy Poehler.  She works in city council for the Pawney Parks Department.  She cares more about that little department more than most real politicians care about their job.
If you've seen this propaganda then you know that us diehard fans would absolutely vote Knope in 2012.  The reason for it is because Leslie Knope is the hardest working human being alive.  She cares for average joe citizens and she doesn't say that she is going to do something without trying her absolute hardest.  I strive for the day that real politicians will care this much for us! I'd vote Knope for those reasons alone, but there's something else that has come up.

Leslie fell hard for Ben Wyatt, whom she describes "an adorable man with a cute face."  But Ben was technically her boss.  Inter department relationships are forbidden, so that was the end of that right? NO! Ben fell hard for Leslie too!  Eventually they couldn't hide their feelings from each other so they became a couple (they hid it from everyone).  At the end of season 3 Leslie was approached to run for political office, and if you know Leslie Knope, you know that's her dream.  When asked if there were any scandals in her life, Leslie lied.  Telling them about Ben could destroy her campaign.  What could she do?

At the beginning of this season we were faced with Leslie's decision.  She broke up with Ben to pursue her dream even though it broke her heart and all of ours.  I admire a woman that is willing to choose herself!  It wasn't an easy decision and it hurt her to have to do it, but in the end Ben knew that a happy Leslie was the way to go.  But was she happy? We've watched a jealous Leslie, and the tension between she and Ben this whole season.  I personally have been rooting for them, even though I am rooting for Leslie to continue with her campaign.  Eventually Leslie couldn't take it, so she said "screw it."  I look forward to watching them be an open couple (watch last night's episode if you haven't already!) and I look forward to watching Leslie continue to do great things.

In case you're wondering, Ben (played by cutie Adam Scott, is Squirrel Approved).  When Leslie broke up with him it tore him apart, but he wasn't prepared to let Leslie give up her dream.  That's a man ladies; it's nice when they fight for you, but when they let you go on and become little Leslie Knopes they are keepers.

To prove that it really was a hard decision for Leslie, enjoy this fan made video that I found on youtube:

Christmas In a Jar

My recent obsession!
These are wonderful Christmas decorations in my opinion.  You don't have to go all out if you can't afford to. You can find little Christmas decorations, like the tree, at the 99 Cent Store.  I really want to make an elf version, if I can't find an elf I might make a gingerbread man version because I'm pretty sure I've seen those at the 99.  You'll also need a jar (99 Cent Store if you don't have one lying around), glitter (preferably white) and or cotton balls (you might already own some), and of course glue (either a hot glue gun, or crazy glue should do the trick.

Heads up, if you search images of Christmas in a Jar, you might also find these:

These are great Christmas gifts because I can 100% assure you that everyone loves food, even if they have to make it themselves.

If I get a chance to make my very own Christmas in a Jar, rest assured that I will keep you posted!

Gone With The Wind

The pun is 100% intended.  As you may or may not know California received some hurricane-like winds on Wednesday night.  If you lived in the towns with no electricity then you know how crazy people were acting.  I made the most of my day though.  I made a blanket fort, took a 5 hour nap (something that I would normally never do), and even got some reading done.  Sadly it ruined my previous promise to blog my little heart out, but more importantly I missed out on NBC's Comedy Night. I am fully caught up with the latter.  I am also happy to report that Greendale Community College got a lot of support.  Dan Harmon tweeted:
That deserves a jump of joy!
"Thank you guys for the ratings boost! It'd be nice to go out head held high - high by our adorable little standards, anyway."

The news(for the show and not the wind) was thrilling for me! I am now fully prepared to blog my little heart out.

P.S. My heart goes out to all the trees that lost their trunks in that terrible wind, all the homeless people that had to bare it, and anybody else with injuries and damaged properties.

The Countdown Has Begun!

Sorry if November wasn't such a great blogging month.  I intend to try and make it up to you if that's even possible.  What better way to end the year than to blog like crazy?! I shall try and provide amazing holiday goodness, and my 2011 favorites all December long!  Till then...

Things That Made My Head Spin

1. Jason Segel and the Muppets. Jason Segel and the Muppets. Yes, I saw the muppets on Friday, and no I am still not over it. Jason Segels adorable level increased tremendously, and naming him cutie patootie of the week was not enough for me. He has been on my mind all week, and probably next week as well.

2. The students of UC Davis being pepper sprayed. I am outraged.

3. Movie of the week: E.T. I watched it on Thanksgiving. Forgot how amazing it is, and how adorable Drew Barrymore is. Such a classic. Only Steven Spielberg makes me want to re-live my childhood and go on an epic bicycle adventure. Cue the E.T. theme song!

Have a happy week everybody! :)

Cutie Patootie of the Week

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
We would like to bestow the honor upon the one and only Jason Segel!  We've had a major crush on Jason Segel for years.  The reason is mostly due to his charm; his charm alone has kept us amazed since his days on Freaks and Geeks where he played the stoner with a heart of gold.  His comedic and acting chops are also brilliant in How I Met Your Mother, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I Love You Man.  We're huge fans if you can't tell!

And you know us squirrels, we just love guys that happen to be multi-talented.  Besides being an actor Jason is a screenplay writer, director, producer, and has even written and performed his own music for the screen. We present you with this:
That video of the song "Dracula's Lament"was written by Segel himself.  It brings us to our next point! He has an usual love for puppets, something that we can't help but find adorbs!  He credits the fact that he's still single to his house of puppets.  Well, Jason all we have to say to that is that you are barking up the wrong conceded trees.  If a gal can't take you being just who you are, you shouldn't have to deal with her.  We're available! Just saying.

On another note we would like to thank Jason Segel for bringing the Muppets back to theaters; it's been too long.  And that's exactly where you can catch Jason this weekend.  The Muppets, a film he starts and co-writes, is in theaters now!  We can't wait to get on down there!

Things That Made My Head Spin

Hello my friends. I think it's time for a new segment, so I bring to you the "Things That Made My Head Spin", which pretty much sums up the interesting news of the prior week. Here it goes!

1. The Unjust Benching of Community
These are trying times for fans.  I have to say that the war has begun.  I did my part and sent 2 letters to the chairman of NBC.  If you're a fan and you're reading this, I urge you to do the same.

2.The Battle of the Sexiest
It was the shot heard across the world this week when People Magazine chose the recipient of their annual Sexiest Man Alive and it wasn't Ryan Gosling.  Fans were outraged, and it even led to the funniest protest in human history.
3. The Stop Online Piracy Act
Does congress realize how much power hackers have?  I am obviously hoping that this bill does not get passed for many reasons.  My main reason: youtube!

Cuie Patootie of the Week

This weeks cutie paootie of the week is Eddie Redmayne.

Now I do not know how popular he is in the UK, but I bet he is more popular than in the U.S, even though he has received a bit more recognition these last years. This makes me happy, although I kinda like him being my little secret.

This British freckled face cutie is a Tony award winner! There is nothing I like more than a guy who has appeared on Broadway. Can he sing and dance?? I do not know, but I am guessing he probably can!

Other than starting his career on stage, and winning a Tony, he has had small parts in in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "The Other Boleyn Girl". He has also appeared in the mini series "The Pillars of the Earth".

Lets talk about his personal life. He dated one of our favorites, Carey Mulligan, for a couple a months. But alas, it sadly did not last. I was so rooting for them. They just looked so darn cute together!

(By the way, who looks THIS good walking down the street. Seriously, model material right here!)

Eddie Redmayne now stars in the movie "My Week with Marilyn" along Michelle Williams and Emma Watson which is released Thanksgiving. He looks awfully adorable in 1960s clothing! He is also starring in an upcoming Steven Spielberg (love) film, which i hope finally launches him to stardom! Although again, I kinda don't want EVERY 12 year old girl to know about him.
